Shopping for Great Deals!

Everyone loves a great deal, I know I do. I thoroughly enjoy scanning racks and looking online for the best deals or special coupons.

I can “window shop” for hours online, and when I go to town, no one wants to join me. My son still tells a horror story of me purchasing a special holiday sweater – a single sweater. It took me slightly longer to actually find the perfect sweater. He claims it took 6-hours, but each time he tells the story a little more time is added.

By the time he has children and a family, I will have spent 3 days walking around a single store looking for my holiday sweater making him hold my purse while he watched me first with a less than happy look that later turned into a silent pleading asking for me to let him sit in the vehicle.

Yes, I love a good deal.Plus Size Designer Fashions

That is one reason I love JAG. I can get the best deals, and the cutest designs. Plus, if I ever have problems, those kind folks at JAG just love helping on the telephone.

There is nothing better than super clothes and wonderful customer service. That is what you get when you check out JAG.

No matter where you shop, you will find that there are opportunities for you to save a great deal of both time and money. I prefer JAG, but you will have your own favorite.

As you are doing your shopping, do you keep your eyes open for sales? Have any horror stories your children would tell? What is the very best deal you ever received?

Junior Sizes, Missy Sizes, and Plus Sizes

Knowing the difference between junior sizes, missy sizes, and plus sizes is an essential part of knowing your appropriate sizes. When you know which category you fit into, you are going to find a better fit, and a general overall better design.

While not every rule will fit with every design, the majority of women know whether they need a junior fit, a missy fit, or a plus fit.

Here is a general guideline I found useful:Junior Size Designer Fashions

Junior Sizes
Generally, junior sizes are for a younger generation. The fit for junior sizes is usually more designed for the junior body still developing. Sometimes, it is difficult to tell a junior size from a missy size because they are so similar.

Many designers use odd numbers to display junior sizes such as 1, 5, 7, or 11. Junior size 19 is usually the upper limit of sizes.

Missy Sizes

The missy sizes are often considered the average sizes woman. The designs are fit for any age according to the designer’s intention, and there are a great deal of missy size fashions out there today.

Many designers use even numbers to display missy sizes such as 2, 4, 8, or 12. Missy size 20 is often the upper limit of sizes.

Plus Sizes

The plus sizes are considered appropriate for the full figured consumer. The designs range by designer, and by the demand of the full figured consumer.

Those plus sizes are generally 14W on up following the even number. There are even some junior plus size apparel following the odd numbers! Today, designers have no actual upper limit. However, many stop at 42W or 44W.

My Holiday Wish List

I love giving presents. Nothing compares to the smiles and oodles of excitement seen on the face of those receiving gifts.

With everyone working on a Holiday wish list, I figured it was time to make one of my own using JAG as a point of interest. Everyone loves clothes, even me!

Here is what I am crossing my fingers for…

All Points Cat Sweater This is my favorite sweater JAG has ever had. I have seven cats, and well, needless to say this sweater hits home. This knit sweater is adorned with those itsy bitsy precious kitties doing what they do best – cause mischief! The color is chenille and oh so fluffy. I love the playful design and the warmth added by this one cat sweater.

Piano Embellished Tafetta Blouse By far one of the nice blouses I thoroughly enjoy from JAG. There is fringe and there is beading, all I need now is a cowboy hat. The deep v-neck will show a bit of cleavage, and the long tiered sleeves are amazing. Of course, I really like the natural coloration too.

Sandra Darren V-Neck Ruched Waist Dress This is one cool dress that will heat up the day and night. If you have a little black dress, you know why this is a favorite of mine. The knee length is perfect, and the wide straps mean I can wear proper support. Love the form fitting look, and the form is oolala perfecto!

Danielle Rabbit Fur Trim Cardigan I really like this because it will go so well with many of my dresses. This is a one button wonder trimmed with braided angora fur. This is simply amazing and will go with anything easily.

Well, that’s it for now, but I do have other favorites! What does your wish list look like?

Beauty Pageant Winner Announced Amid Cries of Foul Play

Recently, Ingrid Marie Rivera was crowned with the title of Miss Puerto Rico. This beauty queen was ecstatic to be crowned with this honor, as would be expected. She received her crown, her flowers, and a round of applause. But there is more to this story than simply winning a beauty pageant.

According to Ms. Rivera, after last week’s pageant, someone sprayed her clothing and make-up with pepper spray cause Ms. Rivera to swell up and itch. How could someone do something so horrible?

Well, according to investigating authorities, there is a lot of skepticism as to whether this is a true accusation. In addition, fellow pageant participants are curious as why her symptoms seem to disappear while on stage.

Of course, Ms. Rivera claims she would not have imagined such a thing, and that her symptoms are indeed real. She even appeared on the TODAY Show talking with Meredith Vieira concerning the alleged attack. Obviously, no one has yet to come forward and claim responsibility on the new Miss Puerto Rico.

Interesting tale, and while I am not sure what I think, I would hope that at this stage of the game, beauty contestants are mature enough not to attack one another and that those same beauty contestants would not fabricate such a tale of viciousness.

Beauty pageants have come under a lot of scuttle in the past, and I am wondering how much damage this one incident will have on the entire process. Will this do more harm than first thought? Will beauty pageants be more scrutinized than before?

Even amid this scandal, Ms. Rivera won the title of Miss Puerto Rico, and the next year looks to be an interesting year. I wonder if Ms. Rivera will go back to being a judge next year as she did last year? Thoughts to consider!

Anyway, what is your opinion?

Now THAT is the Spirit!

With all the various holidays closing in, people are doing insane things to get into the holiday spirit. Recently, I discovered and interesting tale of holiday cheer.

This has to do with, umm… interesting hair styles all to celebrate the holiday season. You think you love this season? Would you have an evergreen tree put on your head?

Now That is definitely holiday cheer that puts mine to shame. I, for one, would not ever in a million years do this to my hair. However, there are benefits!

A) You would definitely be unique!
B) You would have images to show your children and grandchildren – always good for a laugh or smile!
C) You would be helping clean up the planet!

This was done in Japan by a group of hairstylists from Spain. These are definitely dazzling styles, and will be the talk of the town. You can also get your beard decorated!

They do look like they are having fun. Even children are getting into the spirit.

I think the craziest thing I have done is wear a red elf hat around town. With my son’s reaction from a red elf hat, I cannot image me going to his school with a evergreen tree on my head. Though I must admit thinking of his utter mortification, I may just need to find me a Spanish hairdresser…

No matter what you do this holiday season, have fun and play it safe.

What is the craziest thing you have done in the spirit of the holiday season?

What Do You Mean Those are Knickerbockers?

Sometimes I just love talking to my grams. She has colorful language that I always leaves me scratching my head and with a smile on my face. Being raised in Texas, sometimes she is difficult to understand because she has such a thick southern accent, but that is half the fun!Plus Size Designer Fashions

We were discussing a picture she sent me, and she was commenting on how she wasn’t found of how those “knickerbockers” fit. Now, I looked at the picture one way and the other, and went “those are knickerbockers?”

Well, there are a few various styles of pants these days. Usually, there is just a slight variation in the design. Here is what I have learned since then – and with some research – on some of the various types of “pants” popular today.

Carpenter Pants – Carpenter pants are trousers of full length with extra pockets along the side so, traditionally, carpenters could carry a few extra tools in those pockets.

Dungarees – Dungaree is more a material that a style, but some people call dungarees overalls. Dungaree has a lot of twill in it and is about as hearty as denim.

Breeches – Breeches are trousers or pants that end above the knee, but do not qualify as shorts. I think some breeches are bunched and banded above the knee.

Capri Pants – Capri pants are about three quarters of the length of regular trousers ending mid calf.

Knickerbockers – Knickerbockers are knee-length, and are gathered and banded slightly below the knee. Traditionally worn by men, these were one of the first pants worn by women long ago.

This has definitely been an eye opener for me. I never knew “those” were knickerbockers… but now I do. And yes, my grams looked adorable in her youth in her favorite knickerbockers.

What style of trousers are your favorite? How do those differ from generations past and future?

Decorating for the Holiday Season

This year’s holiday season is definitely everywhere. I went to the grocery store, and not only was the store decorated in the latest in holiday ornamentations, but the cashiers actually had on red elf hats. The young man that helped me to my car was dressed in an elf outfit.

I am sure that he did not find this as cute and as amusing as I did…Plus Size Designer Fashions

I have decided, I will go easy this holiday season. Only half the decorations outside and just a few inside. Nothing extravagant, nothing to fancy.

Often I ponder why cinnamon is so appealing to me, but this is the time of year where I simply love pine cones dipped in cinnamon oil. Spread those around the house, and the cinnamon fragrance radiates through the house. Everyone that comes through the door mentions “that wonderful smell”.

The reason for my laying low on the holiday ornaments?

Well, I honestly do not have the time or patience. Yeah, I know, bah humbug!

What I do enjoy doing is shopping for the best deals in women’s clothing. As a full figured woman, there are so many sales and great deals to be had on plus size clothing of all styles, shapes, and colors.

The color of this season and the aroma of the holidays have nothing on the feel of this holiday season though. There is nothing that compares to looking through those old ornaments my then 6-year old son brought home from school. The total look of excitement and happiness that filled his face when he got to place that ornament on the tree.

The memories of pasy holidays are the most important part of this holiday season. Because as I pull out that long ago handmade ornament, the smile that still lights up his face makes everything worth while.

Anyone else have any favorites of this holiday season?

Best Women’s Apparel under $15

With Christmas just around the corner, I have decided that I needed to find awesome gifts for the women in my life such as mom, sis, and a few friends. Since I know women’s apparel, I decided that purchasing clothes is probably a good bet for me.

The problem with giving women’s apparel as a gift is that sometimes, ok most the time, finding cheap prices is not so easy.

I decided that since JAG is a favorite place for me to do my shopping, I would take a look at what they have available, and make a few suggestions. JAG has some awesome deals in women’s apparel that is well below $15! Great ideas for gifts if you ask me.

Here is what I found…Plus Size Designer Fashions

Jalopies Denim Front Pocket Skirt This is an amazing denim skirt with the two pockets found on most denim jeans and a button up front that looks stunning. I love this skirt! With a price of only $11.76, no one can beat this deal – no one.

CKrave Top I really like this particular top. This is a form fitting, red blouse that has a deep vee neck, and the short sleeves are bunched together over the top in little bows. This is amazing and looks great with the denim skirt. Only $12.76… wow!

Magic Missy Haulter Crochett Top While I may not be into halter tops here with snow sprinkling the ground, I think this would make an elegant blouse for any woman. Perhaps toss a jacket over the top, or choose a sassy crochet shawl. The gold color is perfect for the holiday season, and the price of $14.76 sure makes this appealing.

Well, I know where I am going for my Christmas shopping! Does anyone else enjoy shopping for Christmas gifts in the women’s apparel section?

Enjoying Plus Size Parties

I recently saw a news program on NBC the full figured men and women throwing parties to celebrate who they are and denounce skinny people everywhere. Ok, maybe denouncing is a little strong, bur the fact is, there is a message going around that big is beautiful.Plus Size Designer Fashions

Over 59 million people are consider obese – that is roughly 30% of all American adults! Yes, being big is beautiful.

These parties serve to make it “ok” to be large. Revel in who you are, and when you have these plus size parties on the rise, makes one consider why dieting is so darn popular.

You can love who you are no matter what size you are. Has anyone ever been to a “fat” party? I have yet to be in one, but the area I live in rolls up the sidewalks at 6PM.
