Plus Size Clothing
The term plus size clothing has been around for ages, but some feel that this is a derogatory term. In itself, there’s nothing too really wrong with this term, but some women find it offensive understandably. Even though it’s better than if these sizes of clothes were called, say ‘fat size’, the term is one that can cause negative feelings and can deprive women of the joy that is usually felt while shopping.
Let’s face it, women enjoy shopping for all kinds of new and beautiful items to add to their wardrobes; and maybe women should not link their self-image to a term used for the size they wear. In fact there is a place that offers delicious plus size clothing, that when put on, a woman can feel and look great and her face shows that she feels spectacular. That place is Jag Apparel on-line, a place where one can shop without the added stress of having to go to the area with the huge ‘Plus Size’ sign above it.
Looking great in plus size clothing is not just about the outfit being fashionable and it fitting well; looking and feeling great also comes from how a woman feels in an outfit. When shopping for plus size clothing it’s not fun to be faced with the clothing being placed in the back of the store with a large sign above it to let everyone know your size.
There are a lot of reasons why the trend in naming bigger sized clothing ‘plus size clothing’ happened. Plus size clothing terms evolved in order to have more politically correct terms. One can find examples throughout history. The most prominent examples include words that refer to race, ethnicity, and disease. The term “Plus Size Clothing” is changing because many more women are finding themselves in plus size clothing than ever before. People in general to a certain extent, are becoming larger and unfortunately, they are growing faster in width than in length. This means that more and more women are wearing size 14 and moving into the plus size clothing category than ever before.
Also different manufacturers have different ideas of where the line is between ‘regular size clothing’ and ‘plus size clothing’. Some companies will put a size ten or a size twelve within their plus size clothing lines. This can get confusing for a shopper.
In an effort to change this, some retailers are replacing the traditional term of ‘plus size clothing’ with other terms that are less offensive. Some clothing companies offer two terms for women’s clothing, such as ‘Misses’ sizes and ‘Women’s’ sizes. This is one way to make the size distinction between ‘regular size clothing’ and plus size clothing’ and more pleasant than the traditional wording. Other designers use terms like ‘Generous’ to refer to their plus size clothing lines for women.
Whatever the term used you can find affordable, stylish, well fitting clothing at Jag Apparel on-line that you can feel good in to add to your wardrobe.
