Adventurous Fashion – A guide to breaking all the rules
Dec 18th
Want to wear pastels in winter? Mix blacks and navy? Throw all caution to the wind? Here’s how to break all the fashion rules…and get away with it! Women's clothing is tricky to wear ,but you can outsmart it.
Black and Brown DO go together – and don’t listen if anyone tells you otherwise. It’s the value of the brown that’s important, not the color. If you want to pair a brown with a black, mix in a neutral color. For instance, light colored jeans, a black blouse, and an awesome camel colored designer handbag, or a cocoa colored belt. Keep it simple, and make sure your non-blacks are light. It’s the contrast that makes it work.
Navy and Black – Another fashion ‘mistake’ that doesn’t have to be. Throw in some light blue with your navy and black. Bright teal accessories, or a royal blue scarf. This will tie in the palette, and everyone will know your look is intentional.
Spring in Winter – Pastels are totally acceptable for winter, provided you pay attention to the details. Winter pastels should be on the cooler side of the spectrum. They should be paler than spring pastels, too. A winter pink ought to be very light, and slightly more magenta than red.
Winter Florals – Don’t be afraid of Florals in winter, either! Deep jewel toned florals, or vivid primaries can really pop in a drab surrounding.
White after labor day – Okay, probably only your Grandmother will remind you of this rule, but if you insist on adhering to it, remember that Ivory, Bone, and Cream colors are not white, and anyway, you’re a big girl and you can do what you please.

A fine Vintage
Jun 17th
Fashion trends never really die, and this season in particular is bringing us old styles revamped. Mod cuts and styles are huge, but the prints we’re seeing are reminiscent of another age. 70’s paisleys in earthy tones are back as strong as ever. Art Nouveau inspired curls and lines cover fabrics from chiffons to satins.
An unexpected revival comes in the form of Tie Dye. This look hasn’t been around for years, but no one is complaining about the update. The colors have shifted from saturated rainbows, to deep gem tones, making this old look relevant again.
70’s inspired peasant tunic tops are here again, and have been since last fall. This long running trend shows no signs of dying out – likely because of the comfort of the billowy cuts. You don’t need to raid mom’s closet anymore for amazing retro and vintage clothing.

Selecting the right colors for your skin tone
Jun 13th
Opposites attract. Any student of psychology will tell you this, and anyone interested in color theory will agree. It’s important to dress in tones that will complement your skin, in order to give you the very best look in any season. We’ve broken down some of the colors that will look great on a variety of tones.
Pale complexion, with light hair – If you’re in this group, then colors with low saturation will wash you right out. Look for strong color, but in light tones. In other words, a navy blue might look drab, but an electric light blue shirt will be sizzling. Avoid green shades if you worry about skin redness.
Pale complexion, with dark hair – You’re all about contrast, so let your clothing work with you, rather than against you. Stick to darker gem tones, like burgundies and deep emerald dresses. Light colors may wash you out. Your face will really be memorable, and your clothes will help your hair frame your face, where all the personality is.
Medium brown to tan complexion – If you have darker skin, lighter colors and neutrals will keep you looking fresh. You’re perfect for earthy tones and there is no particular color you ought to avoid. Bright blues may cause you to look a bit sallow though, so keep your cool tones in lower saturation.
Olive complexion – If you are olive skinned, then watch out for purple. Purple is the natural complement to yellow, so it can make you look a bit sickly. Orange tones and deep blues will really bring your skin to life and give you a vibrant, healthy glow.
Dark complexion – You are lucky. It’s very hard for any color to look bad on you. You can wear almost anything with ease, but neutrals can be a bit drab on you. Brilliant whites, saturated yellows, and shimmery fabrics will look stunning on you. Avoid dark colors.

Shop Like a Pro!
May 29th
Do you have a friend that always manages to find the one great item in the thrift store? The one who always beats you to that awesome top, or sees outfits in a pile of clothes you thought were hopeless? Well, there’s no magic to it. Anyone can shop like that, and come home happy every time they leave the store. There are so many affordable women’s clothes to choose from.
Think of all the reasons you might not want it. Have you considered how it will look against your skin? The texture? It won’t do you any good to buy it if it washes you out, or scratches you so badly you never want to wear it. Will you have to iron it? Dry Clean it? This is how we end up with a closet full of clothes, and nothing to wear.
Don’t buy it unless you have ten great things to wear with it. What good is a piece that you can only wear with one pair of shoes, or that you have to buy a special belt for? It helps to keep your closet all in one color palette at first, and then gradually start expanding it as you build up basic coordinates.
Don’t be afraid of color. A lot of this article is about playing it safe, but who wants to be safe all the time? You CAN go all out in vivid color without losing your fashion sense. All it takes is balance. Always pair a bright saturated color with a neutral, like white, beige, black, olive, or navy. The same goes for a crazy new cut or shape. Pair it with classic clothing, and you’re good to go. Avoid mixing an interestingly cut top with a funky skirt, or the pieces will compete for attention.
Ignore the trends. I know it’s hard, since they’re everywhere, but try. Only buy a trendy item if it looks AMAZING on your body. Only buy anything if it looks amazing on your body. Don’t even pull out your checkbook unless you are 100% sure you love the way it falls on you.
Shop online. Most online stores photograph their clothing on a mannequin, rather than on a hanger. You get to see everything hanging on an actual human body, and you’ll know what to expect. For the record, most mannequins are a size six, and about five feet, six inches tall. If you are shorter than this, or larger, take that into account. Most online stores offer a generous return policy, because they know how important fit is.

Dress Right For Your Body Type
May 27th
Whether you need to buy a cocktail dress for a wedding or a sundress for a summer picnic, you always want to look your best. When choosing a dress you need to consider your body shape. Not all cuts look good on every shape. Here are some suggestions for buying dresses for each body type out there.
Pear Shaped
You have smaller shoulders, bust and waist with a heavier bottom, hips and thighs. When buying a dress you want to balance out your proportions by slimming down your bottom half and playing up your top half.
*Choose dresses that have an empire waist. Choose flowy fabrics that will skim and smooth out your shape.
*Buy a v-neck dress. They lengthen your torso and draw attention upwards.
*Wide set straps will also help you balance out your top half with your bottom.
*Do not buy clingy fabrics or an overly full skirt as they will draw attention to unwanted areas.
Boy Shaped
You have a straight shape all the way down your body. You have narrow hips, small bust and hardly any curves. When buying a dress you are going to want a dress that will add curves to your body.
*Choose a swingy, bias-cut dress and pair it with heels.
*Choose a neckline that will accentuate your bust, such as halter tops.
*Buy a dress that has a waistline or has some kind of detail at the waistline. This will add some curves to your waist area.
*Don’t buy shapeless strapless dresses. They will only flatten you and make you look more like a boy.
Curvy Shaped
You have a full bust and hips. You have a dress size of 14 or bigger (not always true as there are some women who are a size 6 and still curvy). You want to minimize your curves but not deny that you have them.
*Choose a wrap dress that you can tailor to fit your shape.
*Choose a dress that has structure but is not too tight. Choosing a shapeless dress will make you appear bigger than you are, while choosing a too tight dress will show off every bulge on your body.
*Buy a dress that has a small all over pattern.
*Sheath dresses and sundresses will also look nice on this body shape.
*Do not ever buy a tight satin dress.

How to Find the Perfect Gift for Mother’s Day
Apr 14th
On a budget? Looking for gift ideas for the perfect Mother’s Day gift? We have a few hints and tips to help you find the perfect gift for Mother’s Day.
1. Don’t rely on others to tell you how to find the perfect gift for Mother’s Day. You’re self-reliant and that’s why you’re reading this, after all! Only you know your mother best: her likes, dislikes, things she may appreicate and things she might have mentioned that she needed.
2. They say that clothes make the man, but the truth is that clothes make the woman! Many people think that giving their mother clothing as a gift is impersonal, but clothing is a very personal gift! Nothing makes a woman happier than trying on a figure-flattering dress, a cropped pant set, beautiful skirt or a pretty blouse that makes them look years younger.
3. If you want to know how to find the perfect gift for mother’s day, listen to mom more attentively than usual. She may subtly drop a hint and not even realize it! Women, whether out of habit or just to make conversation, tend to discuss items that they want to buy themselves. Beat mom to it this year and get her what she really wants!

How to Choose a Woman’s Suit Online
Apr 7th
Everyone makes online shopping out to be the easiest task in the world!
In truth, shopping online is one of the easiest shopping experiences you’ll ever have–if you know what you’re looking for.
If you’ve ever wondered how to choose a woman’s suit online, here are a few tips to help you choose the most stylish and comofortable women’s suits online (without spending your local department store’s prices!)
1. Pick your preference: do you feel more comfortable in pants or a skirt? While pant suits and skirt suits are both very conservative you may feel more comfortable in one style than the other.
2. Where will you wear your women’s suit? If you’re selecting a woman’s suit for a business occasion, choose a style and color which are more conservative in color and style. On the other hand, if you’re choosing a woman’s suit to be worn as a church suit, you may feel more inclined to choose a suit that’s more colorful.
3. Look for familiar designer names and great bargains when you choose a woman’s suit online. One popular designer of women’s suits is Giorgio Sant’ Angelo, who offers a variety of women’s suits in many sizes, styles, and colors.
