Finding the Perfect Valentine’s Day Outfit
Jan 8th
Regardless of whether you favor a stylish and demure little black dress or lean more towards the wild red stilettos and a short party dress, finding the perfect outfit for Valentine’s Day is all about combining taste, style and comfort. The fact that Valentine’s Day falls in February may not matter to most living south of the Mason Dixon, but in the north, women must do some creative planning to put together an outfit that can accommodate possible freezing temperatures and inclement weather.
No matter where a girl lives, there are some practical and steadfast rules to dressing for this sexy holiday. Remember on this special day of love, you want to look your best, but your best doesn’t have to mean expensive or over or under-dressed.
When dining out, keep things simple and dress according to destination. Being treated to a casual night? You can still look classy by combining pumps with your vintage tee and comfy jeans, covered by a fitted jacket. Try complimenting this with trendy jewelry, a bulky bracelet or funky watch, and an over the shoulder leather bag. Try a light application of pastel eye shadows and soft blush.
It always feels good to wear something special yet comfortable. For example, you can look very good and sexy wearing dark jeans and Carolyn Taylor Knit sweater. However, the steadfast rule is to wear what looks good on you. No one can better judge this than you.
Fine dining demands the famous little black dress with classic heels and a classy wrap. Accessorize with dangling earrings and a simple but fun clutch. Never carry a large bag with a little dress. Here you can go a bit heavier on the liner, and use a deeper and rich lip color.
For the clubs, let loose with something red or pink, and don’t be afraid to pair dressy boots – but avoid the shiny glittery look. A strapless dress always says sexy. And don’t be afraid to get funky with your eyes and hair.
If you and your sweetheart are planning an active date, don’t resort to worn sweats and old leggings. There are so many great brushed fabrics, and just make sure you don’t make the mistake of choosing an outfit that too baggy or big. Just because it’s active wear doesn’t mean it shouldn’t fit well.
Staying home to cuddle on the couch?
Try touchable fabrics in light purples and plum. What would this holiday be without a bit of naughty lingerie? Give yourself permission to feel good about being bad! But never wear synthetics. Only silk will do. Something in a pale beige or off-white, or, if you must go with black or red, wear solids. Feathers are passé, no matter how fun you might consider them to be.
Not in a relationship?
No need to be blue. Don’t let being single slow you down. Consider celebrating the love you have for yourself by dressing up in your most comfortable, flattering women’s clothing and heading out to hang with other singles. Regardless of the weather, destination or the company you keep, always find something that is comfortable and makes you feel confident, sexy and comfortable, for both you and your man.

Adventurous Fashion – A guide to breaking all the rules
Dec 18th
Want to wear pastels in winter? Mix blacks and navy? Throw all caution to the wind? Here’s how to break all the fashion rules…and get away with it! Women's clothing is tricky to wear ,but you can outsmart it.
Black and Brown DO go together – and don’t listen if anyone tells you otherwise. It’s the value of the brown that’s important, not the color. If you want to pair a brown with a black, mix in a neutral color. For instance, light colored jeans, a black blouse, and an awesome camel colored designer handbag, or a cocoa colored belt. Keep it simple, and make sure your non-blacks are light. It’s the contrast that makes it work.
Navy and Black – Another fashion ‘mistake’ that doesn’t have to be. Throw in some light blue with your navy and black. Bright teal accessories, or a royal blue scarf. This will tie in the palette, and everyone will know your look is intentional.
Spring in Winter – Pastels are totally acceptable for winter, provided you pay attention to the details. Winter pastels should be on the cooler side of the spectrum. They should be paler than spring pastels, too. A winter pink ought to be very light, and slightly more magenta than red.
Winter Florals – Don’t be afraid of Florals in winter, either! Deep jewel toned florals, or vivid primaries can really pop in a drab surrounding.
White after labor day – Okay, probably only your Grandmother will remind you of this rule, but if you insist on adhering to it, remember that Ivory, Bone, and Cream colors are not white, and anyway, you’re a big girl and you can do what you please.

How to buy clothing for women as a Holiday Gift
Dec 12th
During the holiday season, it’s hard enough to find gifts for everyone, but to make things more difficult, it’s important to get the right gift. Women’s clothing is one of the most popular gifts during the holiday seasons. How can you find the right thing for the people close to you?
Don’t be afraid to snoop – Look in her closet. Does she like blouses? Maybe she likes fancy Church Suits. Does she have a lot of blouses? Usually what she wears most will be easy to get to. Take a peek!
Don’t try and guess at size – If you don’t know, find out by asking a friend, or by discreetly looking at the tag of her shirt as you tuck it in for her. If you’re unsure how something will fit, have a sister or friend of similar body type try it on.
Don’t get anything too specific – You want to get something she’ll love, and wear all the time, not something so fancy she keeps it in her closet for ‘special occasions,’ and never wears it. Get her something dressy casual, or warm and comfortable – like a knit sweater.

Transform Day into Night
Jun 10th
We are busy people. I can’t count the number of times I’ve gotten ready in the morning, and my daytime wear became my eveningwear only because I simply didn’t make it home before nightfall. It happens to us all, but the real question is, how do we plan for it? How do we make sure we are always fabulously and appropriately attired for the situation?
As luck would have it, it’s not that difficult to turn day into night. It just takes a bit of creativity, and maybe some spare trunk space for an extra pair of shoes. You can turn almost any outfit into an evening ensemble. So take off that sun hat, muss your hair, smear on some dark eyeshadow, and you’re good all night!
A classic dress is a classic party dress as well. If you love bright colors, pile them on in the day, and then when evening hits, put on a snappy black blazer, or some bold jewelry.
Going from the beach to a club can be a bit of a stretch, but it’s entirely possible. Twist your hair into an updo, and change the sandals for some strappy heels. What’s most important is that you choose the right dress if you think you might go out later in the day. A Halter Dress is a great option, and something in a heavy or brushed cotton will stay dry and look classy even after a day in the sun.
A great top can be an outfit all on its own. A flashy blazer can be stunning in the day with jeans, and then paired with a skirt in the evening for a very put together look. A sequined tank can add sparkle for your day look, and then enhance a dressier pair of slacks at night.
If you’re without storage space, then just go out in a pair of nice flats, and your most flattering outfit. If something looks good on you, it’ll look good day or night. You can always slip a flashy necklace in your pocket, or an extra tube of red lipstick in your bag for later.
There are limitless possibilities when your wardrobe can play chameleon, and change to suit the atmosphere. Try them out in front of the mirror at home, and no one will know you had any practice. They’ll just assume that you’re prepared for everything naturally.

Shop Like a Pro!
May 29th
Do you have a friend that always manages to find the one great item in the thrift store? The one who always beats you to that awesome top, or sees outfits in a pile of clothes you thought were hopeless? Well, there’s no magic to it. Anyone can shop like that, and come home happy every time they leave the store. There are so many affordable women’s clothes to choose from.
Think of all the reasons you might not want it. Have you considered how it will look against your skin? The texture? It won’t do you any good to buy it if it washes you out, or scratches you so badly you never want to wear it. Will you have to iron it? Dry Clean it? This is how we end up with a closet full of clothes, and nothing to wear.
Don’t buy it unless you have ten great things to wear with it. What good is a piece that you can only wear with one pair of shoes, or that you have to buy a special belt for? It helps to keep your closet all in one color palette at first, and then gradually start expanding it as you build up basic coordinates.
Don’t be afraid of color. A lot of this article is about playing it safe, but who wants to be safe all the time? You CAN go all out in vivid color without losing your fashion sense. All it takes is balance. Always pair a bright saturated color with a neutral, like white, beige, black, olive, or navy. The same goes for a crazy new cut or shape. Pair it with classic clothing, and you’re good to go. Avoid mixing an interestingly cut top with a funky skirt, or the pieces will compete for attention.
Ignore the trends. I know it’s hard, since they’re everywhere, but try. Only buy a trendy item if it looks AMAZING on your body. Only buy anything if it looks amazing on your body. Don’t even pull out your checkbook unless you are 100% sure you love the way it falls on you.
Shop online. Most online stores photograph their clothing on a mannequin, rather than on a hanger. You get to see everything hanging on an actual human body, and you’ll know what to expect. For the record, most mannequins are a size six, and about five feet, six inches tall. If you are shorter than this, or larger, take that into account. Most online stores offer a generous return policy, because they know how important fit is.

What to Wear to a Cocktail Party
Apr 9th
Most of the time we know how to dress ourselves for every occasion. But if you’re like most women, who are used to dressing casually, you might wonder what’s appropriate to wear to a cocktail party.
Depending on the social setting and the time of day the cocktails will ensure, there are a few options when you’re trying to figure out what to wear to a cocktail party:
1. Consider the invitation you received. Does it contain the words “casual” or “formal” affair? If you received an invitation to a formal affair, such as a charity event, you should consider a formal dress, as it will be a dressier event.
2. An elegant little black dress is perfect for evening cocktail parties. Nevertheless, if you’re wondering what to wear to a cocktail party on a weekend afternoon, an elegant sundress (simple, nothing too revealing) is perfect for a casual Saturday afternoon cocktail party.
3. For those who are uncertain about what to wear to a cocktail party after work, consider whether the get-together is formal or casual. If it’s a casual cocktail party after work, consider a business-casual outfit, such as a skirt set or a skirt with a pretty blouse. On the other hand, if you’re wondering what to wear to a cocktail party after work which is more formal in nature, a woman’s suit is quite appropriate.

Picture-perfect on prom night
Apr 7th
Prom is as close as most teens will get to having a red-carpet moment. Finding the perfect dress, strapping on high-heeled sandals, styling hair and makeup are all preparation for the flashes that will pop when you’re finally ready for the big night.
So what do you need to be sure you make memories and not meltdowns? Take some tips from the Hollywood crowd and prepare like you’re going into battle, not kicking back with friends.
Heidi Klum and Penelope Cruz don’t just roll out of bed looking picture-perfect the day of an awards ceremony. Yes, they have glam squads of stylists to see that every eyelash is in place, but the savvy promgoer can create her own fashion and beauty plan.
Plan is the operative word. Jorge Ramon, a celebrity stylist and host of “10 Years Younger” on Discovery says to start by “peeling it all the way back to what you want to look like: romantic, classic, trendy or wild. Start thinking about that first, and then you can find your dress.”
Ramon also advocates getting the right garments to wear under your dress. “The don’t call them foundations for nothing — you need something to build on, whether it’s a convertible bra or a waist cincher.
“I’ve dressed enough celebrities to know that it doesn’t matter if they’re a size 2 or a 22; they all wear shapers. They hold you in, give you confidence. A lot of the dress fabrics are silk or satin and show every dimple on your body. You don’t want to look down and see your belly button through the dress.”
